It's Time
Since it's been several weeks since we posted, we'd better do it.
We don't have exciting news such as police investigating us or such things. However, we did have an experience where things worked out well.
We've been having trouble with our power steering in the van. It was leaking and when it got down a ways it would howl. So I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed a defective power steering gear and quoted over $800 to fix it. I was about to just continue to add fluid and forget it. On the way out of the parking lot at the dealership, I remembered we had a problem some time ago. So I went back in and checked. We had that same gear replaced last February at a cost of 900.00. It had been nearly 11,000 miles. So they checked and said that the warranty on the repair was 12 months and 12,000 miles. So we take it in Friday for a free replacement. I'm grateful, I decided to check it out. Close enough to the warranty expiration.
When we were attending our weekly CES class last week the teacher said that in her testimony meeting, a person remarked how sad they were that the "Book of Mormon reading was over" She said well, DUH!. Who says we have to stop reading. We've started again and this time taking a few verses at a time and doing some deep study. We use the "Gospel Link" program which is really excellent. We take turns preparing to discuss and it's really a good way to study. The miracle is that we find time to do it with an average of 25 phone calls a day (mostly for the Relief Society President). She is busy and does a wonderful job. (she has a hard time admitting it though).
So, that's sufficient for now. We're going to Texas next week. (actually we leave Friday AM. We'll take the car in on the way to the airport and it should be ready when we return a week later). It'll be really neat to see Katherine. Oh yes, we'll visit her parents too...

That is awesome about the car! That never happens. Things always break a month after the warranty, not a month before. I am glad that you are still studying the Book of Mormon, just as Elder Eyring said we should. It is great to see how many people were blessed by President Hinckley's challenge.
I'm glad you thought to check on the repair. I'm sure that's a big relief. Give Shane, Sarah and Kathryn big hugs for us when you visit Texas! And don't worry...I think most of us have already figured out that everyone only comes to visit us so they can see our cute kids (and we're just a nice side excuse!)
I've decided to try and read the Bible this year. I know the BoM is the purer doctrine, but I've never read the Bible all the way through. It's hard to discuss religion with people who are not LDS when you haven't read the Bible!
