One of the things Todd didn't mention was that he graduated cum laude, that is especially impressive because there were no summas or magnas!!! He also received an award for "exemplifying the disciplines and precepts of the Oath of Hippocrates and Maimonides Prayer". One of the nice things about the award was there was money attached!! With the move that will be helpful. We did have a good time. Went to see Wicked, and went to Plimouth plantation, Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower. Busy time. The trip to New York turned out to be a little (?) longer thatn anticipated. They made us get off the freeway so we wandered around NYC for a while trying to find our way back on. Got home finally at 3 A.M.

Mother's day at Allies House

We had a real great Mother's Day. All administrative meetings were cancelled so we slept in, busted Gma's diet with French Breakfast Puffs and went to church at regular people time. After church we went to Melvilles and had BBQ and just enjoyed each other's company. I told Ann I'd post a picture of Allies mansion, so here it is:

Since it's been awhile, we need to contribute. I think I'll tell you about our weekend. (Part of it was Deja vu all over again). Sometime Friday Gma got a call from the full time missionaries that a woman they had contacted needed some help. So she called and arranged to go and visit on Saturday P.M. Around 9:00 p.m.(this is Friday) she called and said she needed to go to the hospital. So we picked up her and her one year old, took her to emergency and brought the child home. Fortunately he was a good baby since we waited until almost midnight before she called to have us pick her up at St. Marks. Not too long ago the very same thing happened with a member of the ward but instead of a child we got to baby sit her dog. Oh, the girl wasn't too ill, she's pregnant and was dehydrated. Her boyfriend is in jail, due to be released this week. When Gma went over to visit Saturday, she wanted help with laundry, house cleaning, etc. Gma brought home a huge amount of laundry and did it. When we took it back Saturday evening the missionaries were there cleaning her house. The Bishop chastised the mission on Sunday and told them they needed to be sure their contacts were not just looking for LDS help. It seems like the last several contacts they've made were that type. We surely don't mind helping but don't especially like to feel that we are being taken advantage of. All of this and Gma had to prepare a lesson for first Sunday Relief Society and several other things.
So all of this prompted my thoughts as I had the opportunity to conduct Fast and Testimony Meeting. I said that when we were baptised, we sang "Count Your Blessings"
It is so true that no matter how many problems or difficulties we have the Lord will take them upon his shoulders. I mentioned these blogs and the efforts made by family members to lose weight and how Tammy had told about the 1200 pound man and related that to just taking off a few pounds. (Mentioned what an inspiration Gma was). So while Gma was slaving away over the laundry Saturday p.m. I was playing in a golf tournament with our old ward. I played terribly. See life is tough. But seriously, it does us all good to reflect upon the wonderous things the Lord has provided for us. Especially when we are being "tossed upon lifes billows"
